Privacy Policy
Effective date: 8/30/2026 Last updated: 8/30/2026
Lizard Bites (“Lizard Bites,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at https://glp1lizardbites.com (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
The Website is operated by Bobby Vegetal, LLC, located in Saint Charles, Missouri, United States.
If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise a privacy right, contact us at benjamin@glp1lizardbites.com.
The short version
We are a recipe and nutrition blog. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use advertising and analytics partners who set cookies and collect device and browsing data in order to show relevant ads and tell us which recipes people read. You can opt out of interest-based advertising using the links in the Advertising section, and you can ask us to access or delete your data at any time.
The full details are below.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Comments and recipe ratings. When you leave a comment or rate a recipe, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter, the content of your comment, your star rating, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string. The IP address and user agent are used for spam detection.
- Contact form. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message so we can reply.
- Email list. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and any name you provide.
You are never required to give us any of this to read the Website.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, our servers and our third-party partners automatically receive:
- IP address and general location derived from it (typically city or region level)
- Browser type and version, operating system, and device type
- Screen size and language settings
- Referring URL and the pages you view on the Website
- Date, time, and duration of your visit
Sensitive information — please don’t send it
This Website covers GLP-1 medications, diet, and weight loss. Please do not include personal health details — medications, dosages, diagnoses, lab results, or medical history — in comments, recipe reviews, or contact form messages. Comments are published publicly, and we are not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA-covered entity. Nothing on this Website is medical advice. If you have already sent us health information and want it removed, email us and we will delete it.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. We and our partners also use pixels, tags, and web beacons, which are small pieces of code that record when a page or ad is loaded and how you interact with it.
We use cookies for:
- Essential functions — remembering your comment details so you don’t retype them, and keeping the site secure and performing.
- Analytics — understanding which pages are read, for how long, and how visitors arrive.
- Advertising — showing ads and limiting how often you see the same one.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Essential cookies are required for parts of the Website to work; blocking them may break comment forms and other features.
3. Advertising
No advertising currently.
Your interest-based advertising choices
Whatever advertising partners we work with, you can limit interest-based advertising through these industry opt-out tools:
- Network Advertising Initiative: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/
- Digital Advertising Alliance: https://optout.aboutads.info/
- DAA AppChoices app (mobile): https://youradchoices.com/appchoices
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EU/UK): https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/
- Google ad personalization: https://myadcenter.google.com/
These tools set an opt-out cookie in the browser you use them from. If you clear cookies, switch browsers, or use a different device, you will need to opt out again.
Most browsers also offer a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information where the law requires us to.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through the ExactMetrics plugin, to understand how the Website is used in aggregate — which recipes are popular, how people find us, and where the site is slow or confusing.
Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address, device information, and on-site behavior. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit using Google’s browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
5. Email
We use Flodesk to send our newsletter. When you subscribe, Flodesk stores your email address and any name you provided, and records whether you open our emails and click links, so we know which recipes to send more of. Flodesk’s privacy policy is at https://flodesk.com/privacy.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us and we will remove you.
We do not sell, rent, or trade our email list.
6. Embedded content from other sites
Our posts include embedded content such as YouTube videos and social media posts. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly: the provider can set cookies, embed additional tracking, and record your interaction with the embed — including tying it to your account if you are logged in with them.
We do not control what those providers collect. Their privacy policies govern that content.
7. Comments, ratings, and Gravatar
Comments and recipe ratings are public. The name you enter is displayed alongside your comment; your email address is not published.
An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service.
8. Hosting and security
The Website is hosted by BigScoots and served through Cloudflare, which provides content delivery and protection against attacks. Both process visitor IP addresses and request data as part of delivering the site securely. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
9. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers who operate parts of the Website on our behalf — hosting, content delivery, analytics, email delivery, spam filtering, and advertising partners — and only as needed to provide those services.
- Advertising partners, as described in the Advertising section.
- Legal recipients, where we are required to disclose information by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
- A successor entity, if the Website or our business is sold or merged. We will update this policy if that happens.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly enough to cover the transfer of advertising identifiers to ad partners. To the extent that applies, you can opt out using the links in the Advertising section or by emailing us.
10. How long we keep information
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Comments and recipe ratings | Indefinitely, so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. You can ask us to delete yours. |
| Contact form messages | Up to 2 years, then deleted. |
| Email subscribers | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. |
| Analytics data | Per Google Analytics’ retention settings, currently set to 14 months. |
| Server and security logs | A short rolling window set by our host, typically under 30 days. |
11. Your privacy rights
Everyone
You may email benjamin@glp1lizardbites.com at any time to ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you,
- give you a copy of it,
- correct it if it is wrong, or
- delete it.
We will respond within 30 days, or within 45 days where a law allows a longer period. We may need to verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming you control the email address the request concerns. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you live in California you also have the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes we collect it for, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to — all described above. You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not knowingly sell the personal information of anyone under 16.
To opt out, use the industry links in the Advertising section, enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us with “Do Not Sell or Share” in the subject line.
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, with written proof of authorization.
Other US states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana — have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Use the same contact address above. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will explain the outcome in writing.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our lawful bases for processing are:
- Consent — for advertising and analytics cookies, and for newsletter subscriptions. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for site security, spam prevention, and understanding aggregate site performance.
- Contract — for responding to messages you send us.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
Our servers are located in the United States, so using the Website involves transferring your information to the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards with our service providers.
12. Children’s privacy
The Website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it promptly.
13. Links to other websites
Our posts link to other blogs, retailers, research articles, and health organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from ours.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the Website. Continuing to use the Website after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
